Business Context and Use

The Manage Service Part Demand Forecast In inbound service interface groups operations that create, change, and delete data relevant to demand forecasting in the Service Parts Planning process component.

The inbound service interface groups the inbound operations to create a demand forecast:

• If you want to create a demand forecast for a location product for the first time, you can use the Create Demand Forecast operation. You specify a location product and the required key figures.
• If you want to create a demand forecast for multiple location products for the first time, you can use the Create Demand Forecasts operation. This operation works exactly like the Create Demand Forecast operation, except that it can process multiple location products consecutively.
• If you have already used the Create Demand Forecast operation for a location product and want to add additional key figures for this location product, you can use the Create Demand Forecast Key Figure operation and specify the key figures you want to add.
• If you have already used either the Create Demand Forecast operation for several location products or used the Create Demand Forecasts operation and want to add additional key figures to some of the location products for which you have already created a demand forecast, you can use the Create Demand Forecasts Key Figure operation. You specify the required location products and the required key figures for each of these location products. This operation works exactly like the Create Demand Forecast Key Figure operation, except that it can process multiple location products consecutively.

The inbound service interface groups the following inbound operations to change a demand forecast:

• If you want to change forecasting key figures already created for a location product, you can use the Change Demand Forecast operation. You specify which key figures you want to change and for which period.
• If you want to change forecasting key figures already created for multiple location products, you can use the Change Demand Forecasts operation. This operation works exactly like the Change Demand Forecast operation, except that it can process multiple location products consecutively.

The inbound service interface groups the following inbound operations to delete a demand forecast:

• If you want to delete all the forecasting key figures that have been created for a location product, you can use the Cancel Demand Forecast operation. (Note: The location product master data is not deleted.)
• If you want to delete only individual forecasting key figures for a location product, you can use the Cancel Demand Forecast Key Figure operation.
• If you want to delete all the forecasting key figures that have been created for multiple location products, you can use the Cancel Demand Forecasts operation. This operation works exactly like the Cancel Demand Forecast operation, except that it can process multiple location products consecutively.
• If you want to delete only individual forecasting key figures for multiple location products, you can use the Cancel Demand Forecasts Key Figure operation. You specify the key figures that you want to delete for each of the required location products. This operation works exactly like the Cancel Demand Forecast Key Figure operation, except that it can process multiple location products consecutively.

NOTE

You can use any of the multiple location products operations to create, change, or delete demand forecasts and their key figures for a single location product. However, the single location product operations are specifically designed to handle creation, change, and deletion on a one-by-one basis, and thus provide you with a simpler message structure.
